Legends of the Motoring News Road Rally Championship will attend a forum at this weekend’s Speed and Rally Show in association with Motorsport News, while a two-day road rally will be held at the same venue.
Champions Ron Beecroft and navigator John Millington will recall memories of the legendary championship, which ran its final year in 1987.
Howard Davies will compere while Jon Ingram and Andy Marchbank will also appear on stage at Oswestry Showground on Sunday May 6. A donation from the event will also be made to the Hope Hospice Charity.
Around the forum, a host of World Rally Cars, motorbikes and Ariel Atoms will entertain the crowds on a specially-built course at the venue.
Event director Brynmor Pierce said: “Our first event in 2017 was a great success with the support of many who came along and guests such as Elfyn Evans [above, left, with Davies, pic by Ian Francis], many commented on what a family friendly and relaxed event it was, with our new venue and even better value for money ticketing we are sure it’ll be a great day out.’’
As well as the forum and event, which takes place on May 6, the Border 200 Road Rally will operate out of the same venue in a unique format.
The event features action on Friday and Saturday night, all based out of the showground, and is headlined by multiple event winners Dale Furniss and Nick Bloxham’s Volkswagen Golf.
